SERENGETI
: The park is 335km, 8.30hrs drive from Arusha, covers
14,763sqkm of endless rolling plains, which reach up to
the Kenyan border and extends almost to Lake Victoria. The
park is teaming with stunning wildlife-it is thought that
over three million large mammals roam the plains. In May
and early June you can witness the annual migration of millions
of zebra and wilde beast in search of water and forage as
seasons change. Common species found in the park includes
hippo, giraffe ,eland, impala ,waterbuck, klipspringer,
baboon and a variety of monkeys ,warthog and topi .Besides
these you will find the world famous Serengeti lion, cheetah,leopard,crocodile,buffalo
and ostrich.
NGOROGORO CONSERVATION AREA : This area is located
between the Serengeti and Lake Manyara National Park. It
is the home of the famous volcanic Ngorogoro crater which
s the largest unbroken caldera in the world. The crater
(610metres deep and 260km square) is a microcosm of East
African scenery and game. Scenic grandeur and stunning views
are the hallmark of this wonder of the world. All the lodges
are built high on the crater rim and afford amazing views
over and into the crater-the perfect setting for a well
deserved sundowner
TARANGIRE : Located 120km, 2hrs from Arusha is the
most famous park during dry season from June to December
when thousand of animas migrate from the dry Masai steppe
to Tarangire River looking for water while lion and other
predators follow the herd. Among other species to be seen
at Tarangire are buffalos, elephants, lions, leopards, warthog,
elands, the fring-eared oryxes, lesser and greater kudus,
gerenuk and large number of impala. The national park is
also famous for its tree-climbing pythons and abundance
of bird's life. The park can be visited in a one day visit
from Arusha
LAKE MANYARA : The Park is located 130km, 2.3hrs
from Arusha, nestling at the base of the Great Rift Valley
escarpment and is noted for its incredible beauty and its
famous tree-climbing lions. The park is also the home to
troops of baboons, blue monkeys an many other game like
buffalo, elephant, giraffe, impala, hippo, zebra, wildbeast
and over 350 bird species. All these can be observed in
a one day trip from Arusha.
ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK : Arusha National Park (137sq.km,
32km fom Arusha) consists of three spectacular features-the
Momella Lakes, Meru Crater, and the Ngordoto Crater. Altitudes
range from 1525m above sea mean level to nearly 4575m a
the summit of mount Meru. On clear days magnificent views
of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru can be seen from almost
any part of the park.
The park is famous for its profuse bird life both migratory
and resident. The handsome black and white colobus monkey
inhabits the lush green forest of ancient Cedar and Podorcarpus
trees. Other animals commonly seen in the park are baboons,
elephants, giraffe, buffalo, hippo, hyena, klipspring, warthog,
bushpig, reedbuck, waterbuck, bushbuck, blue and red bush
duike. The park can be visited in one day. The Arusha National
park is the only park where walking safaris can be done
unaccompanied by game ranger.

MOUNT KILIMANJARO
This is Africa's highest mountain, it is 3 degrees south
of the equator and its summit is permanently snow clad.
An extinct volcano, it has three peaks, Ibo the highest
peak (5895m) and shira west (3962m).The area surrounding
the mountain is a national park and is frequented by blue
and red colobus monkeys as well as many species of birds.
The mountain can be climbed through Shira, Machame, Umbwe,
Mwika, Marangu and Longai routes.(An extra night for acclimatization
is advised on any of the routes at about half way.
MOUNT
MERU
Mt. Meru is in north eastern Tanzania 80km south of the
border with Kenya and about 500km north west of Dar es Salaam.
Standing at 4556m above mean sea level, hiking starts and
finishes at Momera Gate. Momera is a common route, hiking
duration is 3-4 days. Wonderful hiking through lush forest
plus a dramatic and exhilarating section along the knife-edge
crater rim making this a spectacular treck and idea acclimatization
for Kilimanjaro.
NGORONGORO
HIGHLANDS
The Ngorongoro Highlands are a range of volcanoes rising
steeply from the side of the Great Rift Valley in northern
Tanzania. Trekking in these highlands is a fairly new activity,
there are no established routes. Most treks start just north
of Ngorongoro Crater and head north via Olmoti Empakaai.
The Monduli mountains lie to the northwest of Arusha town
about 35km, one hour drive, to the area. Masai tribes inhabit
the area. Accommdation in the area is at Masai Bomas where
it is safe to camp.

MT.
KILIMANJARO CLIMB- MACHEME ROUTE
Day 1 : Pick up climbers from the hotel, transfer
to the gate and start walking through montane forest to
Macheme Hut 3000m for dinner and overnight.
Day
2 : After breakfast start slowly trekking, the path
leads through steep rock, dinner and overnight at Shira
Hut(3840m)where you will enjoy superb views of Shira Plateau
and the land below. You will see Mt Meru another extinct
volcano. Dinner and overnight at Shira Hut (3840m).
Day
3 : Depart Shira in the morning taking the path which
rises up gradually towards the Kibodome, after reaching
the wedge buttress points the path drops down to the Baranco
Hut. Dinner and over night at Baranco Hut.
Day
4 : Leave slowly crossing the floor of the great Baranco
Valley and up the Baranco Wall; continue the trek on the
South Circuit path through the Katanga Valley. (Last water
point-Katanga River) slowly treks Barafu Hut (4600m). From
Barafu you will have excellent views of Kibodome and Mawennzi
Peak. Dinner and overnight Barafu Hut.
Day
5 : Early start to conquer the highest point in Africa.
This section of the route is one of the steepest on the
mountain. It takes 4 - 7 hrs to reach the peak (5896m).
Then descend down to Mweka gate where a waiting vehicle
transfers to your hotel.
6 DAYS / 5 NIGHTS.
MT: KILIMANJARO CLIMB-MARANGU ROUTE
Day 1 : 08:00am Pick up climbers from the hotel and
drive to Marangu Gate then start walking through a thick
rain forest which takes four hrs to Mandara Hut 2750m for
dinner and overnight.
Day 2 : Early in the morning walking through the
savannah bush to Hollombo Hut . (3,720m).
Day
3 : This is a day of acclimatization (a rest day) and
also to allow time to explore this interesting area. Overnight
in Hollombo Hut.
Day 4 : Hard day climb to Kibo Hut (4703m). 6 - 7hrs
crossing the barren sub -alpine terrain of the saddle between
Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Relax on arrival as the next stage
begins shortly after mid-night on day 5.
Day 5 : A very early start at around 1.00a.m! Follow
the zig zag path up the scree stopping frequently to catch
breath in this starlit air . This is the steepest and most
demanding section of the climb, taking five hours to Gillman's
point {5681m}. See sunrise behind Mawenzi illuminating the
plain, then walk a further 45minutes around the crater and
up to the highest point Uhuru peak, the roof of Africa.
Thereafter descend to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight.
Day
6 : This is a much easier day as you have the luxury
of walking downhill on the way to the waiting vehicle at
Marangu Gate for transfer to your hotel {Arusha/ Moshi.}
5DAYS 4NIGHTS
UMBWE ROUTE
DAY1 : From the hotel the transfer to Kibosho Umbwe
gate 2100M. Here start walking towards the forest caves
2850m where you will spend the first night.
DAY2
: 5km, 3-4hours, 1100m ascent after breakfast. Start
walking following the path up the ridge, passing the forest
and moorland then up to the upper caves then a little down
to Baranco Hut {3950M} for dinner and overnight.
DAY3
: 5KM, 4-5 HRS, 850m ascent. Taking the Western Breach
walking slowly. Western Breach is the series of high cliffs
that form the breach wall on the right side of the breach
itself. There are two possibilities of where to stay for
a night, you can go direct to Arrow Glacier Hut {4800m}
or stay at Lava Tower Hut [4600m}.
DAY4
: 3KM, 6-7HOURS 1100m ascent. 12km , 5-7 hrs 2800m descent
{Mweka Route} Between 1 & 2 am start to walk up to the
peak .This section is starts on one of the glaciers, then
north for 2.5hrs to Uhuru peak . After sunrise start walking
down to Mweka Hut .You will follow the path eastwards to
Stella Point then down to Barafu Hut then continue to the
south path downhill through patchy giant heather to reach
Mweka Hut [3100m] for dinner and overnight.
DAY
5 : 10km, 3-4hrs 1600m descent. After breakfast descend
steeply through the forest on a narrow path, along the crest
of a broad ridge between two river valleys. Then proceed
slowly as this is the easier day. Arrive at Mweka gate and
find a vehicle waiting to transfer you to your hotel.
NB:
Alternatively one can do six or seven days but not using
Western Breach route. You will go through Barafu Hut .See
Machame route program for the details.

TREKKING
DAY
1: 8.00 am. Pick up from the hotel and proceed to Marangu
gate then start walking through a thick rain forest which
takes four hours to Mandara Hut {2750m} for dinner and overnight.
DAY
2 : After breakfast proceed walking slowly along a
path through the forest and then proceed walking down to
the gate where awaiting vehicle will drive you to your hotel
in Arusha or Moshi.
3 DAYS 2 NIGHTS MT MERU TREKKING.
DAY 1 : 9.00 leave Arusha for Momella Gate {altitude2500m}.
Journey time is 3 hours.
DAY
2 : From Miriakamba hut ascend to Saddle Hut taking
about 4 hours {3500m}. After noon trek to the summit of
Little Meru {3820m} takes 45 minutes then back to Saddle
Hut for dinner and overnight.
DAY
3 : 2:00am from Saddle Hut ascend to the summit of Mt
Meru {4565} and walk around the rim of Meru Crater .Then
return to Saddle Hut for breakfast. Walk down across alpine
tundra. Lunch on the way . A car will be waiting at Momella
gate will drive you back to Arusha.

CRATER HIGHLAND WALKING SAFARIS
DAY1 : Leave Arusha at 7.00am for Ngorongoro Crater
Tour (190km). Dinner and overnight will be at Nainokanoka
village.
DAY
2 : Leave Nainokanoka with donkeys plus your lunch box
up to Bulati village for tour, dinner and overnight.
DAY
3 : Leave in the morning to Empakai. Dinner and overnight
will be at the rim of Empakai Crater.
DAY 4 : Morning depart to Empakai Crater to see flamingos
and Lake Empakai, walk to Nayobi village .Dinner and over
night will be at Nayobi School

5 : Leave in the morning to Pembe Ya Swala at the foot
of Mount Oldonyo Lengai. Stop for dinner and overnight.
DAY6
:
Early in the morning at 8.00am you start climbing Mount
Oldonyo Lengai (The Mountain of God). Around 11.00am you
come down for your lunch. Dinner and overnight at Pembe
Ya Swala.
DAY
7: You leave with your picnic lunch box to Kamakia Campsite
near Lake Natron. In the evening you will be going to see
the waterfalls. Dinner and overnight at Kamakia Camp Site.
DAY 8 : A vehicle will be at you camp in the morning
ready to take you to Lake Natron to see flamingos and other
species of birds. In the afternoon you start driving back
to Arusha, passing Mt Wa Mbu.
5DAYS/ 4 NIGHTS
MONDULI MOUNTAIN AND MAASAI BOMAS WALKING SAFARI
DAY
1 : Leave
Arusha with picnic lunch boxes and drive to Monduli, start
your walking from there through a forest where an armed
ranger will be guiding you. Buffalo and elephants can be
seen in this forest. Lunch before proceeding to the summit
of Monduli Mountain. Enjoy the view of Mount Kilimanjaro
and Meru. Dinner and overnight at Enguik village.
DAY
2 : Have your breakfast in the morning then with your
picnic lunch, proceed on a walking tour towards Ole Maningo
village. Visit a variety of Maasai Bomas {Households} of
this village before lunch at a picnic site. Dinner and overnight
at Mbopos-Ole Maningo.
DAY
3 : After breakfast collect your lunch boxes and start
another day walking from Ole Maningo towards Mfereji village.
Visit different Maasai Bomas. Lunch on the way dinner and
overnight at Mfereji village.
DAY
4 : After breakfast walk to the north part of Mfereji
village. Here you will visit Maasai Bomas. Lunch will be
beside a Boma. Dinner and overnight at Saiguran Goigoi Boma.
DAY5
: Have your breakfast at the Saiguran's Boma, then collect
your picnic lunch and start your walk towards Lengijave
village where you will be picked up by our vehicle and driven
back to Arusha.
CULTURAL
TOURS
Once
in northern Tanzania we can easily combine any of the following
cultural tours with a trip to the traditional tourist attractions
of Lake Manyara, Arusha, Tarangire, Serengeti National Park,
Ngorongoro crater, Mt Kilimanjaro and Mt Meru.
MAMBA-MARANGU
: This area is 30km northeast of Moshi at altitude 1800m,
45minutes drive from Moshi town. We offer full and half
day tours on the slopes of Mt Kilimanjaro. Attractions include
water falls ,beautiful views, coffee trees{this is the area
where the first coffee tree in Tanzania was planted by German
missionaries ],caves used during Maasai /Chagga wars, traditional
and modern Chagga art ,culture, and homes. See an iron smith
at this ancient craft.
LONGINDO
: It is situated 100km north of Arusha on the way to
Nairobi .The indigenous people in the area are Maasai.The
Maasai are a nomadic/pastoral tribe and have no permanent
settlements, instead moving around looking for green pastures
and water for their cattle. Attractions include visits to
Maasai Bomas, a historical German grave, a market place,
visit a bustling colorful cattle market once a week on Wednesday
in Longido town.Learn about trees and plants used for making
food, drinks and medicines.
MTO
WA MBU : A small village located 130km west of Arusha
{2hours drive}and situated under the Great East African
Rift Valley, it is the entry point to Lake Munyara National
Park .
NG'IRESI
: Ng'iresi situated north East of Mt Meru a 6km, 90min
walk from Arusha .The area is inhabited by Wa-arusha and
Masaai tribes The tour involves a visit to Mzee Loti's farm,
where he explains about bio gas ,cross breeding and soil
conservation projects on the farm. On walking to nearby
bomas you will see various styles of traditional Maasai
and Wa-arusha houses .Climbing Lekimana Hill, provides a
good vantage point to views Arusha town and the surrounding
Maasai plains .On a clear day Mt.Kilimanjaro is visible.
Descend the Lekimana Hill on the other side, back to Mzee
Loti's farm. A tour to the catchment forest on the higher
slopes of Meru to see the spring which forms the main water
source of the village .Visit a traditional healer at the
edge of the forest. Further down a fish nursery is visited
in a backyard of a farm.
MONDULI
MOUNTAIN : The Munduli Mountain lies to the Northwest
of Arusha town, about 35km, 1hr drive to the sea. The area
is inhabited by the Maasai. Walk through the forest on the
Monduli with an armed ranger guiding you. Buffalos and elephants
can be seen in this forest. Climb to the summit of Monduli
mountain and on a clear day enjoy the view of Mount Kilimanjaro
and Mount Meru. Descend to Enguik village, visit a variety
of Maasai Bomos in the village.
NORTHERN
PARE MOUNTAINS : The Northern Pare mountains are situated
50kms south of Moshi-Kilimanjaro. The mountains are reached
via the town of Mwanga. From Mwanga a good sand road winds
upward to Usangi and Ugweno, the centre of Northern Pare
Mountains. Tour involves a visit to small local factories
for bricks, stoves, pottery and clothes, see and taste local
beer (denge) from traditional brewing methods inherited
from ancestors .The mountains are the among the most fertile
in East Africa. High on the mountains are natural forest
and moorlands which are traditional sites in the Pare culture.In
these forests ceremonies take place where witch doctors
perform their traditional activities.
LAKE
EYESI : Lake Eyesi lies about 190km west of Arusha town
and southwest of Ngorongoro Crater. Lake Eyesi is a soda
(alkaline) lake and the surrounding land is undulating.
The area around Lake Eyesi is inhabited by the Bushmen (Hedzabe
and Tindiga). They are ancient people believed to have lived
here for over 10,000 years ago. Their language is vaguely
similar to that of the Bushmen in South Africa. A visit
to the Bushmen for three or more days is an amazing experience
offering a chance to going hunting and experience the different
cultures by visiting indigenous people in the area. The
Bushmen will explain how they hunt and preserve food.
MULALA
: Located 30kms away from Arusha, the indigenous people
are the Meru. A number of short tours to women businesses
like cheese and butter-making, dairy, coffee and banana
farms of the top of Lemeka Hill. A glimpse of daily life
of Meru farmers, information of the surrounding vegetation
and crops, bio-gas energy, local landmarks and spectacular
views of both Mt. Meru and Mt Kilimanjaro.
MKURU
: Mkuru is situated on the north side of Mt. Meru not
far away from the irrigated fields of Ngarenanyuki and the
Momela Gate of Arusha National Park .From a distance the
area can be easily recognized through the remarkable shape
of OI Doinyo Landaree, the little mountain that looks like
a pyramid .In co-operation with Africa Greenwich Safaris
Ltd arrangements can be made for camel safaris starting
from the camp in Mkuru. Safaris are possible in the direction
of Kilimanjaro, Longido Mountain and Lake Natron. The safari
duration ranges from 1 to 7 days. During the camel safaris
you usually cover around 20kms before lunch .In the afternoon
you relax and explore the area around the camp.

Day 1: From Arusha drive with picnic lunch to Longido
100kms north of Arusha and on the route to Nairobi. Rest
for an hour and then start the tour. The maasai guides will
help you to spot many colourful birds and show you trees
and plants that they use for making food and medicines .At
OI Tepesi (meaning Acacia tree in Maasai), the guide will
invite you into a Maasai boma and show their traditional
way of life .Lunch then return to Longido for dinner and
overnight.
Day 2 : In Longido the Maasai culture will be explained
. Then enjoy lunch cooked by Faraja women. Afternoon walk
from OI Tepesi to Kimokouwa. Visit Maasai bomas situated
in the green valley of wells. Nearby you can visit ah istorical
German grave before returning to Longido centre. If it is
a Wednesday you can extend your stay to visit the bustling
colourful cattle market.
